Date produced: November 1980, Living at Longford

This was painted on-site, just out from Longford, during a six-month stay in Tasmania, in 1980 and 1981. I often rode my bike along narrow quiet country roads, exploring the regions around the township. I enjoyed finding many fine country views, always with a backdrop of interesting mountains. I remember that while I was painting this image, I was struck by a strong feeling of peace – being there, in such a quiet place, with just the fabulous sounds of small birds being busy all around in the countryside, and the clouds rolling past in total silence.
