The Sugarloaf

6,200 x 3,600 pixel digital image, produced from a photograph, using my abstract image computer program.

The Sugarloaf is a whitish conical form that kind-of looks like a huge pile of white sugar. It has a wooden boardwalk built around it so visitors can safely view it from all around, without damaging this interesting geological form or its surroundings. The Sugarloaf is one of the best known features of this conservation park.

Some of the darker red clays here look as if they have been poured over the rounded forms. Note the thin layer of white limestone that sits like a harder flat layer under the rounded forms. The small bushes have done well to survive in this harsh environment. This plants in this park receive no extra water, just the rainfall that falls.
