A Trip To Christies BeachIn April 2021, my wife and I took a trip to Christies Beach, which is about 25km south of the Adelaide CBD. We travelled there using the train from the city. We were expecting good weather with a maximum temperature of around 22 degrees Celsius. I used to live in a flat on The Esplanade at Christies Beach back in 1986-1987, so I know the area pretty well. It was an excellent trip out. This month's display starts with a selection of 10 photographs taken during that trip (or a similar trip which was done in April 2019). Those 10 photographs are then followed by a selection of 10 drawings or paintings that I produced while I lived at Christies Beach from 1986 - 1987 (about 35 years earlier). The photographs shown here were all taken with a Sony A6000 digital camera. The photographs were recorded as RAW images, and processed using Phase One's Capture One Pro software. This software gives excellent control over exposure, white balance, colour sensitivities, image rotation, sharpening, distortion correcting, etc. Most of the photographs presented in this month's display were taken while walking along a pathway that runs along the base of the cliffs surrounding Witton Bluff. Highly related to this month's display, is my separate module called "Yellows and Oranges against Deep Cobalt Blue" (which is also based on walking along the same pathway). |
Digital photograph, taken 26th April 2021.This is a view of the characteristic Witton Bluff on the southern edge of Christies Beach (in the foreground). Note the orangey sections of cliffs and the yellowy sections of clay cliffs. Hopefully, you can determine where the pathway winds its way along the base of the cliffs, on top of a long region of rocks that lead down to the surface of the sea. |
