Minimal 2
21 cm (w) x 29.5 cm (h), felt-tip pens on bank paper.
Date produced: March 1981

This abstract is from several series of abstract images I worked on while in Tasmania. I like the very different image making possibilities offered by abstract art. This piece was done by folding thin paper and applying some simple strokes with felt markers. Naturally, the marker ink bled through the very top layer of the paper and into the some of the other layers underneath it. When the paper was opened out again, a more complex image resulted. The folding became more important than the marks applied, and took on a similar role to setting out an image with construction lines.

There was a pleasing sense of discovery and curiosity about the results.
