Computer Kinetic Abstract G0473

6200 pixels (w) x 3600 pixels (h), computer ‘painting’ using my own ‘kinetic’ abstract computer program.
Date produced: 30th April 2016

This abstract image is based on a photograph of several small native trees that were up on top of my local hill. I could load the photograph into the swap buffer, then create a new image in the main buffer by applying various processes over the whole image, in this case, usually based on reading the respective colours from the image held in the swap buffer. I was able to control the angle of the elements that were applied, by looking at the read colour’s hue value (where the colour would sit on a colour wheel) as well as its tonal value (how dark or how light the colour was). This abstract image is tending towards being a ‘painted version’ of the photograph that it is using for its colours. I kept the elements being applied to reasonably large long rectangles so that the image looks like it was being ‘painted’ energetically and freely. I find the result very exciting and satisfying.

Computer Kinetic Abstract G0531

6200 pixels (w) x 3600 pixels (h), computer ‘painting’ using my own ‘kinetic’ abstract computer program.
Date produced: 8th July 2018

This image uses rectangular elements to ‘paint’ in the colours from a photograph of a sunset. The angle of each of the placed rectangular elements is being controlled by the parameters set by me for use by the ‘arranged elements covering the whole image’ subroutine of my program. For example, I can set a point where the rectangles all converge, using the computer mouse. I can also set an additional angle to make the rectangles follow more of a spiral pattern rather than just point directly at the convergence point.

Computer Kinetic Abstract 156

6200 pixels (w) x 3600 pixels (h), computer ‘painting’ using my own ‘kinetic’ abstract computer program.
Date produced: 24th November 2024

This abstract image developed initially from the same techniques used to create a ‘painted photograph’, but went through several experiments into using opposite colours and blending, and copying the resulting images into the spare swap buffer for reading the colours from. I am very happy with the way it looks like it has become a wall of ‘energetic and interesting painting’.
