Painted entirely on-site, near the swamp next to the Torrens River, West Beach. The swamp was located between the trees shown in the background. I wanted to record the colours and tones observed, in a similar way to the landscape paintings of the French Impressionists.

I enjoyed the challenge of trying to express a wide dynamic range of tone and light from a real scene in front of me, onto a canvas using the smaller range of tone available in paint pigments.
