I especially liked the glow of sunlight on the cedar flowers, against the blue tones of the hills in the distance. This view was seen along Portrush Road at Linden Park, from the edge of the Burnside Village shopping complex. I decided not to include the stobie poles and overhanging wires.

This painting is not finished, but it is close in terms of overall tones and colours. I am especially happy with the graduated colours in the sky. It was produced as a combination of a small on-site pastel from direct observation, with a photograph taken of the same scene at the same time as the pastel study.
