This is a very pleasing result from a photograph with a wide tonal range. This image uses different areas with different rules for the orientation of the applied elements.

This is the most notable cliff, seen from the boardwalk that goes along above the cliffs from Black Cliff headland. It looks stunning in the bright sunlight, with the expanse of sea water behind it. Because the cliff face is inaccessible to mammalian predators, it provides an excellent place for pigeons to take refuge here.

The pigeons have become simpler constructions of colured rectangles.

I used the angles of the 'brush strokes' to help describe the surfaces.

This image uses different areas with different rules for the orientation of the applied elements. The different areas were applied using the mouse (an area was defined around the mouse position to apply a series of random shapes defined with their own parameters).
