The bird is actually a Wattle Bird, but part of its call reminds my wife and I of a shotgun being cocked. They can actually produce a beautiful and highly unique song.

In ‘painting’ this image on the computer, I made considerable use of the ‘stencil’ functions in the painting programs (locking some colours from being ‘painted’ over).
