27.5 cm (w) x 37 cm (h), conté and pastels on acid-free coloured-ground ‘Canson’ paper. Date produced: July 2001
Drawn on-site, looking out from my studio. I am very pleased with the feeling of rain, overcast light, and reflection that come back from this piece. At the time, I had one day a week in which I set aside for doing my artwork. I had been looking forward all week to getting out and continuing work on a different drawing that I had started the week before, but the weather dictated a major change in plans. I know that in putting together some of the elements of this image, I used considerable influence from the many computer paintings I had done in recent years, especially in exaggerating the rings created by the drops of rain.
