I found that white acrylic ‘gesso’, used for preparing boards and canvas for oil painting, had a nice consistency for being flicked onto paper in thin curved lines, and small blobs.

The main joy for me in this type of painting is in enjoying the application of the paint, and in playing with the ways that the paint can be applied. The overall composition is important, trying to come up with interesting asymmetrical balance.
